Eglinton West is an ethnic enclave in the York district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is considered part of three neighbourhoods: Briar Hill–Belgravia, Caledonia–Fairbank, and Oakwood and Vaughan Road. For much of its length, Eglinton Avenue is lined with modest two-storey buildings (retail at grade) constructed since the 1950s and 1960s. Occupied by small businesses — everything from ethnic grocery stores and restaurants to bars and clothing shops — these gritty structures are unremarkable but brimming with vitality. The section of Eglinton West situated between Allen Road to Keele Street is referred to as "Little Jamaica". It is home to many Jamaican/West Indian owned businesses such as restaurants, clothing stores, hair salons and music stores. The businesses along Eglinton Ave. West are frequented by many in the GTA's 150,000-plus Jamaican community. It is part of the York-Eglinton Business Improvement Area which stretches from Marlee Avenue in the east, to Chamberlain Avenue in the West (just west of Dufferin Street).
