Mount Olive

Mount Olive aka M.O.

1-11, 15-27 Mount Olive Drive is part of the Rexdale neighbourhood in the northwestern area of Etobicoke, in the City of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Built in the 1960s, this neighbourhood is a geared to income townhome complex owned by the TCHC located off of Kipling Avenue, just north of Finch Ave. West. Some new residents to Toronto and some new immigrants to Canada are attracted to this neighbourhood, mainly because there is a large amount of affordable public housing. It is also home to the Mount Olive Crips; a notoriously violent street gang which has been active since the 1990s. The area is made up of mainly immigrant families of Somolian, South Asian and West Indian descent. Many goverment cutbacks have left this community in shambles along with years of gang related shooting deaths.
