Monterey

Located in the heart of the west, off of Baseline Road and Greenbank Road, across the 417 exit from Draper in Ottawa, Ontario, Monterey is a working-class neighbourhood. Monterey along with nearby Draper had significantly high crime rates well throughout the 90s and early 2000's due to the prolification of hard narcotics perpetrated by local drug gangs in the area. Although the overall crime rate in Monterey has seen a dramatic decrease in recent years, a heavy police present can still be seen along with the reminance of gang activity.
