The West Side (W/S) Dalton Gangster Brims were a small African-American street gang founded in West Los Angeles, California during the late 1970s. This gang was founded by a former member of the Athens Park Bloods who had moved to Dalton Avenue between Vernon ave and King Blvd in 1977. This area had no real gang activity at the time besides an independent neighborhood crew called the "Dalton Boys", who the Athens Park Bloods member began to associate with. However, this area was flanked by both the Rollin 30s Harlem Crips and the Denker Park clique of the Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips to the north. After a mutual fistfight between the Athens Park Bloods gang member and a member of the Rollin 30s Harlem Crips threatened to bring the 2 sides to an all out war, The Dalton Boys harboured resentment for the fact that a member of their gang was being threatened. The revenge never happened but this created permanent friction between the Crips and the Dalton Boys. In 1978 another family moved in to the Dalton Boys neighborhood whose oldest boy was a Centinela Park Family Bloods from Inglewood and second oldest boy was from the Van Ness Gangster Brims. This sudden influx of Blood gang members in the Dalton Boys neighborhood prompted the Crips to actually start a violent war with the Dalton Boys prompting them to become an official Blood set. To align themselves with the Van Ness Gangster Brims, The Dalton Boys took on the moniker of Dalton "Gangster" Bloods. They would eventually become the 42 Dalton Gangster Brims, taking the number "42" from a street called "42nd Place that runs in the middle of their neighborhood and taking the word "Brim" to align themselves with the Brim card. Constant fighting with the Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips' Denker Park clique saw the Dalton Gangster Brims' reduced to a fraction of what it uses to be, prompting members to drop out of the Brim card and officially merge with the Van Ness Gangster Brims. Their original neighborhood on Dalton was eventually overran by the Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips who continue to have a strong presence in that area to this day. The Dalton Gangster Brims are now defunct and no longer in existence.
