The West Side (W/S) Black P. Stone Bloods gang are a large and infamous African American street gang founded in Chicago, Illinois but later expanded to Los Angeles, California in the late 1960's. It was the year 1969 when the Black P. Stones first emerged in California operating out of the West Adams area of Los Angeles near Crenshaw Blvd. It was brought to Los Angeles by OG T. Rodgers, a young Black P. Stone who, along with his siblings, was moved to the West Adams area of L.A. at the age of 12 by his mother to keep him off of Chicago’s gang infested streets. By that time, the Crips began to flex their muscle throughout South Central, terrorizing non-Crip affiliated neighborhoods through intimidation. The Athens Park Boys, Lueders Park Hustlers, L.A. Brims and Piru Street Boys had already began a counter movement against growing Crip presence. Amazed by his charisma and beyond-his-years knowledge, OG T. Rodgers organized the youthful local toughs and created the first California chapter of the Black P. Stones while still in his teenaged years. Although there have always been gangs in this area, what set The Stones apart was the fact they had rules and regulations based on ideology and philosophy, which was unheard of in California at the time. This helped solidify The Stones' reputation with surrounding gangs. Using that reputation, OG T. Rodgers would later hook up with another gang calling themselves "The Jungle Boys" from the Baldwin Village area who attended Dorsey High School. This gang would eventually become the second chapter of the Black P. Stones, essentially making Jefferson Park a haven for Bloods. Today there are two separate factions of the Black P Stones in Los Angeles: Black P. Stone Jungles and the Black P. Stone City Side Bloods. "The City", also known as "The Bity", is the original chapter and is located in the West Adams/Mid-City area and the Jungles is in the Baldwin Village section. Authorities believe there are an estimated 700 members of the Black P Stones; 400 of whom live in Baldwin Village while 300 reside in "The City". Members of both gangs are known to be involved in a variety of violent crimes including murder, assault, robberies, narcotics violations, and firearms violations. The Black P. Stones have been locked in conflict with all Rollin 0's gangs, specifically the Rollin 30's Harlem Crips and Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips, for over 20 years. Other Crip rivals include the Rollin 50s Neighborhood Crips, Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips, Rollin 90s Neighborhood Crips, West Boulevard Crips, Geer Gang Crips, School Yard Crips, Playboy Gangster Crips and the Mansfield Gangster Crips. The Black P. Stones are also bitter rivals of the Alsace clique of the Hispanic 18th Street Gang, due to the on going "race war" between Hispanic and African-American street gangs in South Los Angeles [1]. This conflict has also been going on for over 20 years. Other Hispanic rivals include the Mid City Stoners 13. The Stones' only known Blood rivalry was with the Inglewood Family Gang. They have established strong ties to other Blood gangs in the area, as well as to Blood prison gangs. They have a strong and close-knit relationship with the Rollin 20s Neighborhood Bloods referred to as "Da Rollin Stones" alliance. In fact, when the Rollin 20s Neighborhood Bloods were first establishing themselves during the 1970s, The P.Stones approached them to become members of the Black P. Stone Nation, but the 20's decided on retaining their own identity. The P. Stones are also friendly towards the Fruit Town Brims as well, due to their commonality in rivals. On November 10, 2005, the FBI and LAPD carried out raids against alleged BPS members accused of conspiracy and drug trafficking in a joint effort called "Operation Stone Cold" in which subsequently lead to the arrest of at least 18 people connected to the gang [2].
