Weston Road is a street which runs north/south in the west end of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is bordered by the 401 highway to the north, the Humber River to the west, Jane Street to the east and Eglinton Ave. West to the south. At its south end, Weston Road begins at Keele Street and St. Clair Avenue (Keele Street is cut-off north of this location) and travels in a northwest direction to Highway 401. North of the 401, it continues through Steeles Ave. into York Region.
Country Club Towers is situated on acres of parkland overlooking the Humber River on the south side of Hwy. 401 on Weston Road. "Cruikshank Park", located at the foot of Church street and Weston Road (between Lawrence Ave. and the 401) is a popular root frequented by vagrants and drug dealers at night. Further south is the Mount Dennis neighborhood, an ethnically diverse pocket of Toronto where newcomers and established immigrants are the majority. By Eglinton Ave. West There are Caribbean and Chinese restaurants and markets along the strip of low-rise brick buildings.
2100 Weston Road is a popular building which overlooks the "Cruikshank Park" and is home to a large number of Somalian immigrants. Management and tenants of this building work diligently to keep the local drug and prostitution scene out of its corridors, to little avail. 5 Bellevue Crescent is a building by Weston Road and Lawrence Ave. West owned by the Toronto Community Housing Corperation that also had its share of gun violence pertaining to the local drug trade.
Although some may regard it as a haven for gang members and drug dealers, Weston Road has a large population of hard working immigrants from various backgrounds trying to make a living under distressful conditions. It is a strip where desperate drug addicts live amongst the working class, and therefore attracts drug dealers from near by troubled areas, forcing residence to live in fear of spats of violent conflicts between feuding factions.
