Sling Dadz

Sling Dadz isn't a stranger to the hip hop game. Born in Toronto, raised in Trethewey (chuch-a-way), a metro housing complex on the Infamous Jane Street (west end) of Toronto, Sling Dadz found himself surrounded by social issues of the area that would later become inspiration for his music. Originally born as Marlon Morgridge, "Slinga" became his other popular name because of his street credibility in the Trethewey Drive housing community. In 1993 Sling was approached by a promoter of 2swift promotions, stationed in his community. He had put Sling and members of his group known as tha Unda Dwelluz to perform at the Party Center downtown T.O. From there, Slingz recorded several tracks with the Dwelluz, until the manager felt he was holding back the others due to differences between the trio. At that time Sling Dadz ventured to do his solo career at age 16. In the streets daily, Slingz connected with several mc's who were prominent on Jane St. as urban artist being down with the Dwelluz they built a movement with artists from Falstaff Avenue down to Emmett Aveune (Alcatraz) to form M.O.D (Mindz of Darkness). The mid 90's M.O.D, was making noise in the underground scene in Toronto hip hop performing at El Mocambo, Lee's Palace, Chocolate City and other local venues. After years of devotion, and hard work, some of the members decided it was now time to part ways and venture off to start their own companies, Promotion, Management, while the rest felt they lacked the motivation and dedication needed to continue with their music. In 2003 Sling Dadz started to write again and hit the studio with certain generals / business partners form the urban Indie music label Street Code Entertainment. He later released two singles "I'm from Jane" & "The Re-Up" which was too controversy for commercial radio. Street Code Entertainment also does Artist Development, In house Production, etc. In the end of 2007, Sling Dadz shot his first independent music video directed by Chris Strikes “I'm from Jane” in Toronto's West-End on the Jane strip, (Northside-Southside).
