The Russell Ridaz on Russell Road is a low income housing neighborhood, which is home to 800 black Africans (majority Somali) and Caribbean people. Drug dealers thrive in the large project. Police now patrol the neighborhood by walking on foot, since police can't catch criminals by car. The residents who live at Russell Heights are proud to live through the struggle. The majority of the residents have lived in Russell more than 5 years. Recently, CBC Ottawa made a report about social problems in Russell Heights.
