Kennedy Strip

The Kennedy Strip is one of the most dangerous streets in Brampton and in the GTA. It is located in the downtown/inner city area of Brampton. Many social housing projects from Sir Lou Projects in the south all the way to Hansen Courts and Kennedy Road Housing building in the north are located on it. Police cars and undercovers can be seen driving through at any time of the day and the sounds of sirens and other choatic sounds are common for residents. Other hoods on the strip include Orenda Court, Chamney Court, Rambler, etc. The strip is also very notorious for drug activities. Centennial Mall, located in the northern side of the strip is a hotspot for gangs and drug deals due to the high density in the area. The Kennedy Strip is a well-known crip neighbourhood so there are not alot of bloods found in any of the hoods with the exception for Orenda which is the only blood territory on the Kennedy strip. In spite of all these issues, the city does nothing to revitalize any of the substandard housing or public buildings in the area. Many residents have been heard through the local newspaper begging for change but not much has happened. Over 70% of the population lives in poverty and almost 90% are lower middle class. The majority of the residents are immigrants from South Asia or the Carribean. There are also many Asian and hispanic people living there.
