Biography

An aspiring, young, talented and motivated artist from Victoria Park Avenue, a long strip in the east end of Toronto, Ontario, Canada that divides Scarborough from East York and North York. Repping for the whole Megacity, Hypo aka The Greek Kid has been in the game, rapping for almost a decade but just began to pursue it in the past three years. Born and raised by a single mother with no male role model, Hypo took interest in activities that would bring danger and bad karma into his life. Surrounding himself with the wrong crowd from an early age influenced his behavior. Breaking the law, making money, smoking weed, and beef became second nature. Friends were not always loyal and some even became enemies. In between all the negativity that was occurring at the time, The Greek Kid was schooled by his peers on the Muslim religion which is often mentioned in his music. Realizing and understanding concepts that the majority of people his age are unaware of changed his views and made him who he is. Remaining a strong believer in the Lord and a higher power, Hypo is grateful for his blessings and lives life each day at a time.

Growing up in the urban culture, being a major fan of Rap/Hip-Hop music, he credits artists such as Jay-Z, Nas, Tupac, Eminem, Big Pun, Cormega, Jadakiss and Styles P for having a great influence on his craft. He is known for his lyrical ability and insight on everyday life which are relatable to a lot of people. He is also known for his witty punchlines but does not like to be considered a punchline rapper. He has been working hard to generate a buzz by battling other local emcees and putting out tracks. In grade nine he met Lokz and became a top ranked member of the group/label 52 Entertainment. The majority of his grade ten year was spent in the studio developing his flow delivery and analyzing instrumentals, in addition to learning how to write lyrics as bars while observing the engineering and production aspect of the game. Using a broad vocabulary and current street slang to express his thoughts as rhymes came natural to him, and Hypo was sure he had found his passion. Nervous in the beginning because he was new to recording, once he got comfortable and in his zone he realized the type of music he wanted to make. Now attending adult school, he is trying to obtain his high school diploma because it is a necessity in this day and age. Taking part in school cyphers was how it all started a few years back. He moved on to releasing numerous tracks, working with different artists and gaining a loyal fanbase. He has performed at local events and worked in many different studios such as Wellesley Sound, Hey World, Blacklight, Middle Grounds Headquarters, and Lokz's own 52 Entertainment. Hypo's first radio appearance interview was on Crack House Radio (www.fusionradio.ca) hosted by Bizz although his first single titled "We Got It" featuring Aristo & Littles was in rotation on Flow 93.5 during the summer of 2007.

Creating connections and networking at such a young age makes this kid a major threat in the Megacity. His thought process is unique and he tries to be creative with every song he makes. Convincing you with every rhyme that he is rap's prophet, he stays consistent and knows how to please the listener while always staying real. He uses his life experiences and observations of the world and the environment around him as inspiration. Good production, catchy hooks and different concepts define Hypo as an artist. Some of his music has been heard on the radio before but his goal is to have a major hit-single distributed through all airwaves of Toronto in the next year. Once his anticipated street album is out, he is determined to blow in the Toronto Hip-Hop scene. With many obstacles thrown his way and many more in store in his long, difficult journey to stardom, Hypo claims he will overcome them all and one day, plans to run his own record label. Starting Brown Bills Inc. and NightHawks Ltd. alongside Hunger Inside Me and 52 Entertainment, the labels will feature many talented artists from all over the Greater Toronto Area in the Rap/Hip-Hop/R&B/Soul/Rock/Reggae genres.

Currently, Hypo is working on many projects and is available for collaborations and features. However, his main focus is completing his solo album mixtape that will be released in the summer of 2009 which is titled "More Than A Phase." A street album titled, "The Investment," will surface before the album mixtape some time in the third quarter of 2008. There will be a release party and a video shoot following shortly after. Lokz and himself are working on a duet mixtape which is coming soon. There is also a MEGACITY PROBLEMCHILDz mixtape in progress along with other projects and releases to look out for. MEGACITY PROBLEMCHILDz is a group started by himself and friend/business partner V-Tega. Giving motivated youth encouragement and an outlet to develop as artists and businessmen. V-Tega and Hypo are soon to star in a reality series about themselves growing up in the city on a day to day basis. From hustling and maturing as men, the reality series follows them through their struggle on the streets. A DVD will be released and clips will be posted on the net for promotion. Hard living and hatred fueled their desire for success. Thoughts and goals will one day become accomplishments. Ambition and drive along with Hypo's hard work ethic will make him a household name in Toronto and Canadian Hip-Hop. Having gone to far to get discouraged or even think about looking back, The Greek Kid has enormous plans and is definitely one to look out for in the near future.
