The Downtown area is the heart of Winnipeg, bordered by the Red River to the east, Assiniboine River to the south, Sherbrook Street to the west, and the CPR Rail Yards to the north. In Downtown is the infamous Exchange District, where 50% of Winnipeg's nightlife and clubs are located, the other 50% at Osbourne Village. The area has 18 skywalks, making it easier to get around during the cold winters, and has a beautiful skyline.

In the area is the University Of Winnipeg, one of the two universities in the city.

Downtown has lots of attractions, and shopping is common in the area, one of the biggest malls being Portage Place. Although being a busy area, its still dangerous, especially around night, 2 homicides of which have taken place in Downtown this year. Has the reputation to be one of the most scariest downtowns in North America.
