Dan-e-o 1 LOVE
Dan-e-o's long-awaited second album, “See No Evil, Hear No Evil”! is out now!! On this follow-up to the successful 2000 release “The Book of Daniel”, Scarborough’s Dan-e-o (whose name, contrary to popular belief, does NOT capitalize the “E” and “O” unless, of course, the entire name is written in caps) mixes elements of funk, soul, reggae and rock with heavy doses of street battle raps and conscious-minded lyricism. Touted as one of Canada’s greatest lyricists ever, Dan-e-o is best known for his first single, “Dear Hip Hop”, which was released on Beat Factory’s RapEssentials Volume One album in 1996.
Since then, Dan-e-o has helped to establish his crew Monolith as a Canadian favourite in the world of hip-hop. Among Monolith’s members is the Juno nominated trio Irs (“Welcome to Planet Irs”) who produce and appear in “Stand Clear”. In the summer of 2004, the LP’s first single, “T.N.T.” charted on Canadian radio while its video rotated on MuchMusic, MuchVibe and MTV Canada. Next to burn up the same airwaves was the bouncy single and video “Funkbox” featuring future R&B diva, Chocolate Ty.
Juno nominated DJ Serious (“Dim Sum”) is also on board to produce the cuts “Foxy Lady” and “Amazing” featuring Juno winner Blessed (“Love”), adding elements of soul and reggae to this funk-filled LP. Popular Jamaican reggae artist (and Dan-e-o’s distant cousin) Red Rat appears in the hot club banger “Kama Sutra”, which is a huge party anthem for summer 2005. All cuts make “See No Evil, Hear No Evil” an eclectic mix of beautiful and innovative music.
“The negative images of violence, greed and ‘pimpery’ that clog the airwaves these days don’t impress everybody”, says Dan-e-o, “Mad hip-hop heads still just want to hear someone who can rap well, period”. Saying that Dan-e-o ‘raps well’ is like claiming Michael Jordan did a pretty good job of playing basketball during his career. And Dan-e-o plans to take his career to new heights with his sophomore album “See No Evil, Hear No Evil”.
Why “See No Evil, Hear No Evil”? Dan-e-o explains the album’s title: “Our world and therefore, our entertainment is often corrupt. Mad kids be emulating what they see and hear all the time. All these so-called thug rappers are really just smart, rich, businessmen. Everything I say in my music is something I can honestly say I live. And it doesn’t involve any portrayal of a negative, cruel or hurtful lifestyle. ‘See No Evil, Hear No Evil’… If you love good music, you’ll love my music”.
The LAST album from Dan-e-o, appropriately titled “Speak No Evil” is also out now!! Available exclusively on the streets and online, this LP contains hot new remixes including “Kama Sutra (Reblaze!)” and bangin’ brand new cuts like “Chocolate Love”. Following this project, Dan-e-o will be taking advantage of new and exciting career opportunities. Stay tuned!!
