DONE WRIGHT

THE BEST UP & COMING RAP ARTIST

-- DONE WRIGHT (A PENNY TO A MILLION) [1]Done Wright was born David Wright Jr on February 25, 1980 in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, NY, with his mother being from Harlem U.S.A and his father from Kingston, Jamaica. They lived in a one bedroom apartment on President St until late 1985, his parents decided to move from BK and moved him and his older brother to Jamaica "South Side", Queens. At the early age of 9, seeing his older brother rhyme and listening to rap pioneers like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, L.L. Cool J, and Kool G. Rap he became motivated to be a rapper. As a youngster he would watch the park jams since they were right across the street from his house and was influenced more by rap music. As an adolescent he made a name for himself in South Side and his peers used to call him D -Murder. Being surrounded by thugs, drugs, and violence he was so deep into the music that he was able to dodge the negativity that came with living in a poverty stricken environment. But his spirit became broken from growing up and watching his mother battle with her cocaine addiction, (however today his mother is drug free). This 28yr. old Artist and CEO of HardWork Entertainment holds a rap style that's witty, raw and passionate, but also carries an item that a lot of rappers don't own and that's originality. In 1995 Done attended high school at George Westinghouse downtown Brooklyn which some of today's hip- hop greats attended as well (Jay- Z, The Late Great Notorious B.I.G, Busta Rhymes and AZ.) A few of his accomplishments and paid dues are interning at Select Records in 1995. Also, in 95' he worked with a couple of unknown producers for about two years, who eventually tried to shop Done for a deal, but the one label that was interested at the time Geffen decided to close their rap department. In late 1997 he and the producers parted ways since no finances were being generated at the time. Furthermore, Done’s family life went down hill when they got evicted out of their home in 1997, his family was forced to split and he had to stay at relative’s apartment in the Highbridge section of the Bronx. Still focused and determined to win he wanted to get his music heard so he chauffeured his songs on a few college radio stations, mix radio shows and received airplay along with interviews. In the summer of 2000 he and his ex-rhyme partner got a chance to shine on Video Music Box along with host Ray Dejon. In 2OO1 he began attending Borough of Manhattan Community College as a business major and also started interning at The Island Def Jam Music Group. Around this time he was learning how music moguls like Master P, Sean Combs, and Cash Money CEO’s Baby & Slim Williams became successful at making music business decisions and started to apply their business mentally to his own, and he then started HardWork Entertainment. In 2004 he released his first mixtape titled "That's Them, This Is Me Vol. 1", and sold it out of the trunk of his car. He then followed up with "They Will Remember My Name Vol. 2", and is set to drop his next mixtape "Paid In Full Vol. 3" early April of 2008. Done has performed at various clubs in New York City such as Club Cheetah’s, Babalu's, Downtime Nightclub, and Club Lickwed just to name a few. He's currently working on his debut album titled "A Penny To A Million" which will be set to be released June of 2008. In closing from the struggle in his life, to moving units on the streets and overlooking his company's operations it looks like this young black entrepreneur will be one of the next great ones who will go down in the history of the entertainment world with such kings as Jay -Z, Tupac Shakur, and many others that paved the foundation.
