The Black P Stones are a large and infamous African American street gang founded in Chicago, Illinois but later expanded to Los Angeles, California in the late 1960's. It was the year 1969 when the Black P. Stones first emerged in California operating out of the West Adams area of Los Angeles near Crenshaw Blvd.. OG T. Rodgers, a member of the Chicago Blackstone Rangers, moved to Los Angeles and started a local chapter. The Black Stone Nation was originally formed in Chicago, Illinois and is one of the few Los Angeles gangs that has a history that goes back to another city. During the early to mid 1960s, The Blackstone Rangers formed on the South side of Chicago. They were later identified as the "Black P. Stone Nation", then years later as the El-Rukns. Still a teenager, OG T. Rodgers was asked by the "Black P Stone Nation" to start a California division. He began in Jefferson Park, and he ended up building one of the most notorious Blood sets in Los Angeles, creating a money making empire, and making the Jungles in LA a haven for Bloods. There are an estimated 700 members of the Black P Stones, 400 of whom live in Baldwin Village. There are two separate factions of the Black P Stones in Los Angeles: "The City" and the Jungles. "The City", also known as the "Bity" is located in the West Adams/Mid-City area where as the Jungles is in the Baldwin Village section. On November 10, 2005 the FBI and LAPD carried out raids against alleged BPS members accused of conspiracy and drug trafficking in a joint effort called "Operation Stone Cold" in which subsequently lead to the arrest of at least 18 people connected to the gang [1]. The Black P. Stones had engaged in war with all Rollin 0's (specifically the Rollin 30's Harlem Crips and all Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips) for over 20 years as well as with the 18th Street Gang. Other rivals include the Inglewood Family Gang, West Boulevard Crips, School Yard Crips and the Mansfield Gangster Crips. The Stones are friendly towards the Rollin 20s Neighborhood Bloods (the alliance between the two is often referred to as "Da Rollin Stones").
