Avalon Gangster Crips
The East Side (E/S) Avalon Gangster Crips are a long standing and active African-American street gang founded on the east side of South Los Angeles, California. This gang was founded in 1972 by Jamel "The God Father" Barnes, a former member of the original East Side Crips, and a couple of his friends in the Avalon Gardens housing project located on 88th Place, between Avalon Blvd. and Central Avenue after Raymond Lee Washington was incarcerated for a murder charge. Their moniker derives from a major thoroughfare that runs north and south through Los Angeles called Avalon Blvd. and their territory is stretched out along that road. The Avalon Gangster Crips identify themselves under the Gangster Crips/East Side Crips/Tray card and are friendly towards most Tray gangs such as the Eight Tray Gangster Crips, the Kitchen Crips, the Broadway Gangster Crips and the Main Street Mafia Crips. They are rivals of all Neighbor Hood Crips, in particular the Rollin 30's Harlem Crips, Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips, Rollin 50s Neighborhood Crips, Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips, 112 Neighbor Hood Crips and the East Coast Crips. Additionally, the Avalon Gangster Crips are known to feud with other gangs under the Tray card as well due to the fact that some of them formed alliances with gangs identifying under the Deuce(2x) card, their sworn enemies. These Gangster Crip rivals include the 42 Gangster Crips, 43 Gangster Crips, 48 Gangster Crips, 87 Gangster Crips and the 97 Gangster Crips. Although the Avalon Gangster Crips are rivals of all Bloods, it should be noted that their rivalry with other Crip gangs are stronger than any Blood rivalry. Some Blood rivals include the Family Swan Bloods, Blood Stone Villains, Blood Stone Pirus, Rollin 20s Outlaw Bloods, Miller Gangster Bloods, Bounty Hunters Watts, Hacienda Village Bloods and the Circle City Piru. The Avalon Gangster Crips used to rival the 52 Pueblo Bishop Bloods, but the two gangs came to an unofficial truce in order to take on the Blood Stone Villains. Young members of this gang have adopted wearing Atlanta Braves or Oakland A's sports apparel to signify their turf.
