Tandridge

Tandridge Crescent is a subsidized housing complex located near Albion Road and Elmhurst in Etobicoke, Ontario.

Tandridge Crescent has been home to many new immigrants to Toronto, most recently by those of various African nations since the turn of the century. This complex has long been frequented by roaming gang members from the Rexdale area, not only because of its close proximity but for the mere fact that at the time it did not have a heavy police presence until the late 90's. The area saw a dramatic rise in gang activity with the emergence of a small local set claiming the Rexdale Crips card. Although police maintain that gang activity in the area has been dramatically reduced, remanence of Crips memorabilia on Tandridge Cres. can be seen in local graffiti and the style of clothes worn by youths from the area.

Today, Tandridge is a well maintained neighbourhood owned by the TCHC whose tenants work hand in hand with police to make sure that this community does not fall prey to roaming gangs again.
